Adopt a Plant
Initiated by Ayza Pandit
Description
As an effort to live in a healthier, greener environment, we often see many drives where people come together to plant saplings. While that is a wonderful initiative, trees and plants can only help us if they are able to grow properly. That requires care and commitment. It’s often not enough to plant a sapling or sow a seed; we must also see its upbringing to ensure it is growing up strong and healthy. Under this initiative, I, Ayza, and my friends invite volunteers to foster their love for nature and the art of gardening and identify a sapling in their neighborhood to adopt. This is a commitment that may span over a number of months, depending on the plant chosen, as we require the volunteers to regularly check up on it and make sure that the plant is growing up well. This involves watering the plant and making sure it is getting plenty of sunlight. Volunteers can give short updates with photos or brief blogs, which can be put up on the website.
Always remember: Before starting to take care of your young sapling as a volunteer, I would humbly request you to associate yourself with the sapling mindfully so that you are aware of the fact that the plant you are nurturing is not an inanimate object but a part of yourself that grows as a result of your generous actions. With this thought kept in mind, let’s get planting!
