Teaching the underprivileged about Women Empowerment
Initiated by Mehar Kaur Sohanpal
Description
I worked with a registered NGO- Sudha Society to contribute in their teaching classes. I took part in the literacy day celebration in which the tutors had to teach the students a short poem or story that they could recite in front of the audience.
I also campaigned for village women by selling products that they made out of waste materials. For instance, jute/ wooden baskets, a decorative vase, or bottles. I distributed brochures about them and their products so that costumers have a better idea of this initiative. The final revenue collected (funds) was all donated back to the village women. I collaborated with a classmate and our project was later published in the local Hindi newspaper ‘Danik Jagran’.
